English Lessons

Most students attending summer school are primarily concerned with learning or improving their English.

At International Summer School learning English is fun!

Fluency in English is becoming an increasingly essential asset in today's world. At International Summer School much emphasis is placed upon fluency and communication, thus building confidence in the language.

Tuition takes place for fifteen hours per week, in small classes with an average of 10/12 students. This enables students to receive intensive, personal attention. The learning process continues after lessons have finished, as the students integrate with each other. For each course, the number of students who speak the same language is restricted. Therefore, English is the only common language and everyone is encouraged to speak it at all times.

Every students' knowledge of English is assessed on arrival in the form of a written and verbal test, to ensure placement at the appropriate level.

International Summer School accepts students of all abilities, from complete beginners to advanced learners. Each student's progress is monitored throughout his/her stay and a certificate is awarded on departure.

It is sometimes possible for students to have extra English lessons - which take place outside the normal timetabled lessons. These are normally taught on a 1:1 basis and incur extra cost.

Students, whose English is more advanced, have the opportunity to enter for the world recognised TOEIC examination. This exam takes place during Week 5 of summer school. If your son or daughter is interested in sitting for this exam, we would be happy to register them. An examination fee would be chargeable. NB Early booking is advisable.

Our aim is to promote an atmosphere where children are open minded, friendly, inquisitive, well mannered and considerate. With these qualities they will enjoy taking full advantage of the international friendship opportunities offered.

When we return your child to you at the end of their stay, we hope they will feel enriched by their experience with us and will look forward to returning to meet friends made at International Summer School the following year, as so many do.
