Intensive English Programme

This programme consists of an additional 3 hours of English lessons per week: one hour on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

This course is run at Moira House and Newlands Centre every week.

The programme focuses on:

  • Grammar & Vocabulary:
    These sessions will concentrate on various grammatical points as well as the development of different lexical items such as idioms, phrasal verbs and collocations.
  • Communication & Pronunciation:
    These sessions will focus on everyday English expressions (e.g. functional language) and how to use them appropriately in different contexts, with an emphasis on pronunciation including individual sounds, stress and intonation.
  • Reading & Writing:
    These sessions will enable the students to work with extensive reading texts and practise the different reading techniques such as skimming or scanning. Students will also learn how to write different types of texts such as reports or formal letters, and will also focus on the different registers.
