Sport and Games, Excursions, Activities and Entertainment
The sports and leisure facilities are available a short distance from the Eastbourne Centre. There is an excellent indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, indoor sports hall, gymnasium, dance studio, cookery room, art room and sports fields.
A sports and social programme, organised by the Social Organiser, is on offer during afternoons and evenings for students. The sports and activities are various and can include the following: Swimming, Soccer, Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey, Trampolining, Ultimate Frisbee, Dance, Yoga, Pilates, Cookery, Jewellery Making, Arts and Crafts. Evening activities could include: Quiz, Drama Nights, Talent Shows, Nightclub in Brighton, Skating, Karaoke, Beach barbecues, fun games. During the course, there will be evening outings to the local cinema and to ten-pin bowling - which are included in the course fee.
Students will be able to opt-out of either the afternoon or evening activity and, instead, enjoy unsupervised excursions. NB Parents of students aged 16 and 17 years will be asked to give their consent if they wish their son/daughter to participate in unsupervised excursions. A space on the booking form is provided for this purpose.
There will be full-day excursions (usually one mid-week and one at the week-end) to various tourist attractions in London and the South of England. These will include all entry fees. Trips planned for Summer 2012 include:
Royal Tunbridge Wells and Hever: Visit to Tunbridge Wells - Pantiles and Royal Victoria Place - followed by entry to Hever Castle (former home of Queen Anne Boleyn - 2nd wife of King Henry VIII), Water Maze, Garden Maze and grounds.
London: Museums, Art Galleries and sightseeing/shopping.
Portsmouth: Tour of HMS Victory (Admiral Nelson's flagship) followed by a trip up the Spinnaker Tower and shopping in Gunwharf Quays.
London: Covent Garden followed by entry to Theatre show in the West End.
Brighton: Brighton Pier and Beach, Lanes and shopping.
Thorpe Park: Trip to Thorpe Park - one of the largest theme parks in the UK.
London: Entry to Houses of Parliament including House of Commons and House of Lords, sightseeing of Westminster e.g. Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Downing Street, Trafalgar Square.
London: Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, Leicester Square, Trocadero, Piccadilly Circus and shopping in Oxford Street.
London: Students will have the opportunity during one week to choose where they would like to go in London e.g. London Eye, Madame Tussauds, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace,.........
