Eastbourne (Conference and Learning) Centre

For students aged 16-21 years

This course was formerly known as the University Hall of Residence course and offers students a unique opportunity to join a residential and all-inclusive course for 16-21 year olds. Apart from the change of venue, many aspects of the course remain as before with students having the opportunity to enjoy unsupervised outings and excursions.

Location: The Eastbourne Centre is situated directly on the seafront and only a few minutes walk away from the main town centre, with its theatres, museums, art galleries, nightclubs, cafes, restaurants and good selection of indoor and outdoor shopping. This Conference and Learning Centre (would be equivalent to at least a 4* hotel) is in a sophisticated and luxurious setting and will appeal to mature and independent students who are looking for a more advanced and intensive English course that offers challenge and stimulation.

We have chosen the Eastbourne Centre in response to student feedback, which allows us to offer a unique combination, of learning, luxury and an unrivalled location on the seafront.

English Programme: The Eastbourne Centre is for students aged 16 - 21 years who are looking for a more advanced English course that offers challenge and stimulation. We offer 4 levels of English from intermediate to proficiency. There are 20 hours of English tuition per week. Lessons on one afternoon per week are sometimes taken away from the centre to enhance learning in the classroom. Small classes with a maximum number of 14 students per class.

IELTS - As well as our normal Eastbourne Centre course we will be offering a 4 weeks intensive IELTS course in 2012! Students will study an intensive IELTS course as well as joining in with the normal activities and excursions. At the end of the course (21 July) students will sit an all day IELTS exam at a local test centre. As the exam lasts all day we recommend students book their flights for 22 July (free accommodation will be provided for the night of 21 July). Transport to and from the exam centre and the exam entrance fee (normally £130) will be included in the normal weekly fee. Activities and Excursions: Two full day excursions (including all entry fees) twice a week, usually every Wednesday and Sunday. A trip to London is always included. A varied Sports and Social programme is on offer during the afternoons and evenings for students. It is also possible to book specialist coaching in certain sports. We recognise that the 16+ age group appreciates flexibility and more independence and students will have the freedom to explore Eastbourne and surrounding areas with friends in their leisure time. Some of these outings could be unsupervised (parental permission is required for this if a student is under the age of 18).

Accommodation/Welfare: Our professional and dedicated staff, many of whom return year after year, are chosen for their experience with older students and they ensure an exciting but safe environment. Students will be accommodated in luxurious twin-bedded rooms with beautiful en-suite bathrooms (single rooms may be available on request for an additional supplement). All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, a flat screen LCD freeview TV, air-conditioning, hairdryer, ironing station, telephone and safety deposit box for valuables. There is a choice of food at mealtimes, including a vegetarian option. Our staff will be resident at the Eastbourne Centre. They will eat meals with the students and share much of their activity and leisure time.
